Most of us know far more music than we can explain. A song makes you feel something and the reason stays just out of reach — it’s in a time signature you didn’t count, a chord that resolved somewhere you didn’t expect, two instruments answering each other in a gap between verses.
This series is about Indian film music: what it takes to create a song, how the parts work together, and why the result sounds the way it does. It tells you more about something you’ve already heard — a piece of music from a film or a composer you know well.
It’s the same instinct as the architecture work — take something complex, find the structure inside it, then explain it so the structure is obvious to someone else.
